Job Description

An Outside Sales Representative is responsible for selling products or services directly to customers in person, rather than through remote channels like phone or online. They are typically expected to meet potential and existing clients face-to-face, build relationships, and close deals in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prospecting & Lead Generation:
    • Identify and target potential clients through research, cold calling, networking, and attending industry events.
    • Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities.
    • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the market, competitors, and industry trends.
  2. Client Meetings & Presentations:
    • Schedule and attend in-person meetings with prospective or current clients.
    • Deliver tailored sales presentations, product demonstrations, and proposals to meet client needs.
    • Address any client concerns or objections in a professional and timely manner.
  3. Sales Negotiation & Closing:
    • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contract details.
    • Secure new contracts, renewals, and upsell opportunities.
    • Meet or exceed individual sales quotas and targets.
  4. Relationship Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with customers to foster repeat business and referrals.
    • Provide excellent customer service and ensure client satisfaction throughout the sales process.
    • Follow up on past sales and ensure ongoing support post-sale.
  5. Reporting & Documentation:
    • Keep detailed records of sales activities, client interactions, and progress in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software.
    • Submit regular reports on sales performance, market feedback, and competitor analysis to management.
  6. Collaboration with Internal Teams:
    • Work closely with marketing, customer service, and product teams to align on customer needs and business goals.
    • Provide feedback to the team regarding market trends, customer needs, and competitive products.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Sales Experience: Proven track record in outside sales, B2B (Business to Business) or B2C (Business to Consumer) experience.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present and negotiate effectively.
  • Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks.
  • Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to understand customer needs and offer solutions tailored to their business challenges.
  • Driving License: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as regular travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the product or service being sold (e.g., technology, healthcare, finance, etc.).
  • CRM Proficiency: Experience with customer relationship management software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  • Negotiation Skills: Advanced skills in negotiating pricing and contract terms.

Work Environment:

  • Field-Based: Frequent travel to meet with clients; may involve long hours and time spent on the road.
  • Flexible Hours: Ability to set personal schedules, though some evening or weekend work may be required depending on client availability.

An outside sales job is dynamic and requires a high level of independence, organization, and a results-driven mindset. Success in this role is often tied to the ability to establish strong client relationships and generate new business opportunities.

 

We pay salary plus commission, bonus on level sales, along with residuals.  We have paid time off, benefits(Medical, Dental, Vision and 401k with match).
