Description/Duties & Responsibilities

The City of Santa Clarita is recruiting for multiple part-time, temporary, seasonal (PTS) positions in the Arts and Events division. Under the leadership of the Arts and Events Supervisor and Coordinators, this position will assist the Fields and Venues team in facilitating reservations at indoor/outdoor facilities, including venues, park locations, and picnic areas.

This position may work up to 20 hours per week and must have the ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in organization, set-up, clean-up, and monitoring of facility, events, and rentals

• Performs a variety of facility set-ups and tear-downs by securing cords, lifting and placing tables/chairs, and constructing pipe and drape

• Manages a variety of office clerical/administrative support tasks/duties for the Reservations office

• Inspects event or reserved area for permit compliance; resolves issues while onsite

• Provides basic technical support with PA systems, projector screens, and presentation displays

• Greets customers, answers inquiries, corresponds with patrons over email, and facilitates tours for facility reservations

• Inspects facility debris and unsafe conditions, malfunctioning equipment, keeps all of the walkways and building entrances cleared and safe, and continuously monitors the safety of the facility

• Ensures cleanliness of the facilities, including cleaning restrooms and banquet rooms, and removing trash

• Maintains various forms, logs, and reports; completes and files correspondence at the end of shift

• Reports incidents and accidents

• Supervises facilities when working independently

• Follows and enforces City policies as they relate to the health, behavior, and safety of others

• Performs other duties as assigned by Arts and Events Coordinator and/or Supervisor

Education and Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

• One year of experience in event organization, facility operations, clerical support, or other related experience

• Possession of a valid California Class C driver license is preferred

• Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be considered

• Ability to lift boxes and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; set-up/tear-down and move tables, chairs, PA systems, etc.

In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.

In compliance with California law, positions working with children are required to be mandated child abuse reporters. A mandated reporter is an individual who is obligated by law to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.

PTS workers are at-will. Generally, PTS employees are limited to no more than 999 hours.
